Transform Your Skincare Ritual in 6-Minutes!
We've spoken about 60-second cleansing ad nauseam (click here to read the blog), but did you know that there's another 60-second rule that can really level-up your skincare ritual?
Many of us use multiple skincare products as part of our morning and evening rituals and, whilst layering products is perfectly fine, you'll not only achieve more out of the ingredient benefits if you follow this rule, but you'll also add another level of mindfulness to the experience.
...and it's super simple...
Wait 60 seconds before applying the next product to your skin!
This gives the product time to penetrate the skin and the ingredients (especially if they're actives) time to work before adding the next product.
You can then add a dash of mindfulness through counting to 60 slowly whilst breathing deeply, mindfully brushing your teeth (we know that time is of the essence for many of us and this daily routine can be transformed into a mindful activity!), opening a bottle of essential oil and inhaling for 60 seconds, popping on a free 60-second guided meditation via Insight Timer, stretching for 60 seconds, or perhaps using the time to apply moisturiser to your body...
There are a couple of exceptions to this rule but we've broken down the steps to a basic skincare ritual for you to clarify:
Step 1: Cleanse skin for 60 seconds and leave the skin to air dry. This would be a double cleanse in the evening of course!
Step 2: Mist a Facial Spritz
Step 3: Apply serum whilst skin is still moist from Facial Spritz
Step 4: Mindfully brush your teeth for 60 seconds. What we mean by that is to be fully present in the activity. Don't run your to-do list through your head during this step instead, feel the bristles on your teeth, picture your teeth being cleaned, be aware of all the sensations...it may be hard to do at first, but with practice you'll be amazed at how such a mundane ritual can be transformed into something truly special!
Step 5: Either apply another serum if you so desire, or lightly tap on some Eye Balm
Step 6: Open a bottle of essential oil and inhale deeply for 60 seconds
Step 7: Apply Facial Moisturiser
Step 8: Apply moisturiser to your body for 60 seconds (or as long as it takes!)
Step 9: Apply SPF (for morning skincare rituals only of course!)
The list might look time consuming, but we've tested it out and can get the entire ritual complete in 6 minutes tops! Promise!
